Leftist Rag Celebrates “Shadow Campaign” to Manipulate Election

A vast network of conspirators “saved” the 2020 election by waging a massive “shadow campaign” to exert their influence on the public, a new Time Magazine article reveals.

Yes, really.

According to the article, when Donald Trump warns of the dangers of mail-in voting, it’s a threat to democracy – but when a massive underground movement influences the public, it’s “fortifying” the election’s integrity. 

“The [conspirators] want the secret history of the 2020 election told, even though it sounds like a paranoid fever dream–a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information,” writes Molly Ball. “They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it.”

“And they believe the public needs to understand the system’s fragility in order to ensure that democracy in America endures.”

This ‘revolution’ Ball’s report describes is presented as a foil to an election that clearly favored Trump, a popular, incumbent president.

“Every attempt to interfere with the proper outcome of the election was defeated,” says Ian Bassin, co-founder of Protect Democracy, a nonpartisan rule-of-law advocacy group. “But it’s massively important for the country to understand that it didn’t happen accidentally.”

“The system didn’t work magically. Democracy is not self-executing.”

But what were these “attempts” to interfere with the “proper outcome” of the election?

It was President Trump warning Americans the dangers of mail-in voting.

“For Trump and his allies were running their own campaign to spoil the election,” writes Ball. “The President spent months insisting that mail ballots were a Democratic plot and the election would be ‘rigged.’”

“…Beyond battling bad information, there was a need to explain a rapidly changing election process. It was crucial for voters to understand that despite what Trump was saying, mail-in votes weren’t susceptible to fraud and that it would be normal if some states weren’t finished counting votes on election night.”

Indeed, this supposed tell-all report comes across as historical revisionism to get Americans off the trail of all the election irregularities caused by mail-in voting and to instead acknowledge the incredible efforts of ostensibly good actors fighting to save the republic.
