Former “Dirty Jobs” host Mike Rowe had some frank words for students who attend expensive colleges and then trample the American flag to protest oppression.

Hey Mike you slamming those that wear the symbol as clothes or eat off the symbol in plates or napkins? If not, you should sit down and learn the Flag Code and the constitution before you slam anyone. Just sayin.

    1. So you condone burning the flag?? You don’t live in America do you.

      1. John Spengler says:

Pat Wick, it’s called the Constitution… Have you ever heard of it? Check out the First Amendment. You might learn something.

        You a veteran? I think not !

      3. Pam says:

Before you go screaming 1st Amendment, you might want to look at the LAW. 18 U.S. Code § 700 – Desecration of the flag of the United States; penalties: Whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both.

  3. John says:

Flag-burning is preferable to US Constitution burning. The Constitution protects our freedoms, not our feelings. Mr. Rowe, protest is protected. Perhaps you could pour yourself some hot, herbal tea, try to understand the difference, and get over you sensitivity?

  4. John says:

Or, you could get down off of your high horse and fuck yourself. That work?

  5. Pam says:

18 U.S. Code § 700 – Desecration of the flag of the United States; penalties: (1) Whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both.
    (2) This subsection does not prohibit any conduct consisting of the disposal of a flag when it has become worn or soiled.
    (b) As used in this section, the term “flag of the United States” means any flag of the United States, or any part thereof, made of any substance, of any size, in a form that is commonly displayed.
    (c) Nothing in this section shall be construed as indicating an intent on the part of Congress to deprive any State, territory, possession, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico of jurisdiction over any offense over which it would have jurisdiction in the absence of this section.
    (d)
    (1) An appeal may be taken directly to the Supreme Court of the United States from any interlocutory or final judgment, decree, or order issued by a United States district court ruling upon the constitutionality of subsection (a).
    (2) The Supreme Court shall, if it has not previously ruled on the question, accept jurisdiction over the appeal and advance on the docket and expedite to the greatest extent possible.

As a child from a Military background, It hurts to watch people do it knowing what my father and step father (and uncles and friends) sacrificed. BUT they fought for people to have freedom and fortunately, protest against government is part of one of those freedoms. There are laws that regulate these protests for a reason.

IF you don’t like the flag of the country you live in, you are free to move to a different country. If you don’t like the laws of this country, you are free to try to change them. BUT if you are not able to change them, you have to make a personal choice. Live by the law or leave and find somewhere the laws are acceptable to you.

Hey Pam! On June 11, 1990, the Supreme Court in the case of United States v. Eichman struck down the Flag Protection Act, ruling again that the government’s interest in preserving the flag as a symbol does not outweigh the individual’s First Amendment right to disparage that symbol through expressive conduct.

    HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  9. FRANKLIN says:

    John Spengler
The Constitution gives you the right to voice your opinion but it does not give you the right to disrespect the Flag of the U.S. of A.
That is one of the things that is Wrong with the United States of America today is the ignorance of the Rights and Responsibilities set forth in the Constitution.

  10. John says:

Franklin: You are wrong. That right is protected.

  11. John says:

What don’t you dummies get? The Constitution protects flag-burning and 18 U.S. Code § 700 was deemed unconstitutional and struck down. Get over it.

  12. John says:

Ohhh…you hope Donnie Drumpf will Make America Great Again. Don’t hold your breath.

    1. Chris says:

      Hey John,

Once upon a time slavery and prohibition were declared constitutional. Just because something is legal doesn’t mean that it is morally correct. And trust, I’m not waiting on Trump to make ANYTHING great again. The fact that you fell compelled to resort to personal insults tells me all I need to know about the kind of person you are; so allow me to say it before you do. Go fuck yourself.

      1. Anthony says:

True story, Chris. He must be one of those people that gets very upset when a movie doesn’t end his way. Kinda pathetic if you ask me.

Hilary Clinton was the best choice? PLEASE!!!

  14. Bard says:

Hey “John” you are correct in the fact that flag burning may be protected, but those of us who are not asshole trolls on boards like this are appalled and offended by those who do. We are tried of those people, like yourself, who hide behind the constitution and do things that are offensive and insulting to those who give you the right to. Apparently you are not a veteran of the Armed Forces or you wouldn’t be so quick to defend these pieces of crap who burn the flag as “protest.” That same constitution also give us the right to down right slam and flame those assholes who do burn the flag, along with asshat trolls, like YOU!

  15. madhatternalice says:

I love the idiots on here who claim that flag burners aren’t “American.” Who say nonsense like “you hide behind the Constitution,” while at the same time demand that we all follow 2A to the letter. Who say things so incredibly dumb that you have to wonder if they’ve even graduated high school.

SCOTUS has ruled that flag burning is legal.

If you don’t like that it’s a law in this country, you’re free to leave. You will not be missed.

  16. Bard says:

And those who burn the flag cuz they don’t like the country or the new president elect or whatever are also free to leave. I am not calling them non-Americans but it sure seems they don’t care to give any respect to those who fought and perhaps even died to give them their American freedoms. And that’s what the flag symbolizes to the vast majority of us. It’s very apparent who is a vet or has a vet for a parent or family member, and who is/does not. If YOU don’t like us calling out the sleezbags who do this, then you too can leave the country cuz you know what…we outnumber the likes of you.

  17. Jance Garfat says:

The irony is the women and men who serve our country, from all walks of life, gay ,straight, every ethnicity and every religion who sacrificed more than most will never know, defended and died for the very freedoms that we have, to include burning the flag ,are the ones disrespected the most. …and it makes you look like a total jackass….
