Government Officials Are Tracking Your Activity During Coronavirus Lockdown Orders

Back in 2018, the Department of Homeland Security admitted the use of rogue cell phone surveillance devices. This was no surprise to the general public.

Just about everyone knows who Edward Snowden is and what he did. He unveiled the truth about the immense amount of spying the NSA does on a regular basis.

The main way the government tracks your cellphone is through something called CSLI (Cell-Site Location Information) in which every time your cellphone talks to a cell tower it records your location and the time of contact.

Your cellphone can still be tracked regardless if you turn off location services or not, according to a Princeton University study.

The government will always find a way to get and do what it wants. As Rahm Emanuel famously said, “Never allow a crisis to go to waste.”

Now, your cellphone is being tracked in the name of “fighting the pandemic.”

The data forms a map of population tracking to report on density and social distancing as well as anonymized travel patterns. Some governments are a level beyond, exploring movement tracking, contact tracing, quarantine enforcement.

What started in China, Singapore and South Korea as an exercise in rigorous containment has rapidly expanded to Europe and the U.S., countries within which the sacrifice of freedom still causes anxiety, despite the clear public interest. It turns out that after years of critiquing China’s surveillance state, come the crisis there were some useful lessons to be learned.
